Rhythmic Gymnastics

Elite hosts Pan American Games Selection Camp
Elite Sports Complex in Downers Grove, Illinois was built in 1995 as the training site for
the 1996 U.S. Olympic Rhythmic Group team. Elite is the home of the Elite Rhythmics
competitive rhythmic gymnastics team, one of the largest rhythmic teams in the country
and the only team in Chicago`s western suburbs. We have had gymnasts qualify for Junior
Olympics, the highest national level of competition for gymnasts in levels 8 and lower,
every year since we opened. This year, we had 9 gymnasts qualify for Junior Olympics
and Level 4/5 Championships. Level 7 gymnast Peggy Flavin was their highest ranked
gymnast at this prestigious competition, placing 5th all-around the top gymnasts in the
country in her level. Elite is proud to be chosen as the host site for the upcoming
Pan American Games selection camp!


Junior Jumpers
This is an introduction to rhythmic gymnastics for the 4 and 5 year old child.
The class features jumping, running, and basic locomotor movements
incorporated into a warm up routine involving skills and stretches appropriate
for the age and size of the children. Ballet and tumbling are part of the class
along with an introduction to the rhythmic equipment: ribbon, rope, ball, clubs
& hoop.

Intro
This is the first level of instruction in rhythmic gymnastics for girls ages 6 and
older. Basic skills in ballet, dance and equipment are taught. This is an
introductory level, familiarizing students with the basic body elements and
equipment used in rhythmic gymnastics.

Basic
This is a developmetnal class for the young gymnast who demonstrates
potential in dance and the use of equipment and an interest to learn more
about rhythmic. The emphasis is on flexibility, basic skills technique and ballet.
Girls enrolled in this class should have been introduced to all pieces of
quipment and be familiar with basic body positions. The class is designed to
teach the mroe specific skills and technqiue needed to progress in the sport.

Tiny Talent
This class is the first level in the accelerated program. The class is designed
for the talented young gymnast showing advanced skill in flexibility, dance,
ballet, and use of equipment. The structure of the class differs from the
developmental levels in that greater attention will be placed on discipline,
proper form, poise and technique. Ballet instruction, as it relates to rhythmic
gymnastics, is included.

High Hopes
This accelerated class is part of the progression to competitive rhythmic
gymnastics, following Tiny Talent. The class is desgned for the talented
gymnast showing advanced skill in flexiblity, dance, ballet, and use of
quipment with a desire and working attitude to reach more advanced goals.
Greater attention will be placed on discipline, proper form, and technique in
preparing these girls for the competitive atmospher.

ELITE Rhythmics Team
Gymasts on the competitive team learn the USA Gymnastics compulsory or
optional routines appropriate to their level. Team training time is divided
between intense work outs in flexibility, strength, endurance, dance, and the
mastering of skills with each apparatus. For more information on the team,
